We know that tastes differ, but this red wine tastes really good for almost everyone. The "Smiling Donkey" Douro DOC - 2019 has a full-bodied body that is not too overloaded. Comprehensive impressions of dark cherries, plums, black pepper & eucalyptus. Added to this are fine roasted aromas of mocha beans and oak wood. The harmonious acid underlines the solid structure of the wine and ensures drinking flow and balance.

Nowadays it is not easy to be a donkey...Although the animal has been indispensable in agriculture for centuries, it is currently threatened with extinction due to the desertification of inland Portugal. In addition, more and more young people are leaving rural areas and moving to cities. As a result, there are fewer and fewer people looking after the donkeys and the farmers are slowly getting too old to be able to take good care of the donkeys. The big and smiling Mirandese donkey has been listed as an endangered species since 2003. For every bottle purchased, $1 goes to a charity dedicated to saving these donkeys.
